BAUMEISTER Jordan T., on Jan. 16, 2012 of Drexel Hill, PA. In the fast-paced, deadline-crunching atmosphere of local television news, seasoned professionals often yearn for a confident, measured presence who can listen intently, execute precisely, and even make you laugh. Those qualities, and more, could be found at NBC10 in the youthful guise of Jordan Baumeister, who died of cancer Monday night. He was 25. “Jordan always put a positive spin on everything, ” said morning news manager Jennifer Wiggins. “He was an absolute joy.” No matter what task he was asked to perform as an intern, and later a production assistant, Jordan complied not only with determined eagerness, but with gentle good humor. “He wanted to be here,” said morning news producer Deryl Borden. “He came in at three in the morning, gladly did the grunt work, and all with a smile.” During his final months, Jordan’s newsroom co-workers took up a collection that soon swelled to a station-wide, community-wide fundraiser. As soon as people learned that Jordan was the focus of the benefit, the donations flowed freely. “Jordan was a gentle, considerate person,” said morning news producer Michael Pecker. “He lit up a room, bringing energy and a light that stood out.” When asked to describe Jordan, fellow co-workers used words such as “genuine”, “upbeat”, “valued”, and “respected”. Jordan was born December 9, 1986 in Philadelphia to loving parents, Thomas and Madeline Baumeister. He cherished his brother, Adrian Russo, and his sister, FaithBaumeister. He was also close with his two grandmothers, Marie Baumeister and Maryanne Marinelli; two cousins, Damien and Devon Staples; and a young nephew, Chase. Jordan attended Hillcrest Elementary School and Drexel Hill Middle School. A lover of animals, he had a German short-haired pointer named Max. Years later, Jordan would rescue a black cat that became a beloved family pet. At 5, Jordan took an interest in sports. He distinguished himself as a perennial all-star Little League baseball player, as well as a M.V.P. quarterback for the Drexel Hill Raiders football club. At 10, Jordan added wrestling to his athletic mix. He won an inter-county championship and had an undefeated record in Middle school. Jordan was a true student-athlete. As an honor student, he listed in the top five percent of national testing. Jordan’s studies helped him to score impressively on the entrance exam to the prestigious Haverford School. There, he lettered all four years in wrestling and was selected as an All-American his senior year. Jordan also found time for another passion, music. Jordan used a computer to teach himself how to play the guitar. Performing a wide variety of songs on request earned him the nickname, “The Human Jukebox”. In typical leadership style, Jordan went on to form a band while enrolling at Ursinus College. While excelling at college in both academics and wrestling, Jordan was dealt the blow of his life. In his sophomore year, he was diagnosed with cancer. Twice, the disease went into remission. Neither treatment at Pennsylvania Hospital nor a toe amputation fazed Jordan. With unswerving courage, he forged ahead to secure work as a waiter and his internship at NBC10. It was at the TV station where Jordan turned colleagues into friends, and left an inspired, lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him. Survived by his parents Madeline “Madge” (nee Marinelli) and Thomas M. Baumeister, his brother Adrian D. Russo (Amy), his sister Faith M. Baumeister, his maternal grandmother Mary Ann Marinelli, his paternal grandmother Marie Baumeister, his nephew Chase Russo and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Fri. Evening 6-9 P.M. and Sat. Morning 8:30-9:45 A.M. at the D’ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME OF BROOMALL, 2811 West Chester Pike Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church Drexel Hill, PA. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.

Split Endz Salon along with a good family friend Craig Wilson held a benefit for a young man with Sarcoma Cancer.

A COMMUNITY WRESTLING AGAINST CANCER, a benefit for 24 year old Jordan Baumeister.

Held on Friday July 15, 2011 – at Casey’s Restaurant and Saloon in Drexel Hill, PA. The fund raiser was a great sucess thanks to all of the friends, family, co-workers of Jordan Baumiester.
